Is this bike good value or overpriced, i have been looking for a second hand bike that i will use a couple of times a week just to take strain away from running and mix up my training

It depends. If you have a straight choice between a new one and a nearly new one for 250 less then I'd take the secondhand one. That being said compared to the rest of the secondhand market I reckon its overpriced. The fact is that the bike scheme has hurt the resale of this class of machine. More like 400 I reckon with the helmet thrown in. Its similar in class to the Specialized Allez which my local bike shop sells secondhand for around 400 whenever they have them in. Much depends on the condition.

Secondhand's are tought to come across, i have been looking for some time now not many shops stock secondhand bikes near me. Its is selling for 745 euro on irishfit, with a helmet thrown in 753 after shipping

Its a no-brainer if you want to buy the bike. For sure you will get a similar spec machine for 100-150 less if you are not in a rush e.g. Giant Defy, SCR, Trek 1000, 1.2, Specialized Allez and so on. They come up here on a regular basis depending on your size.

However if you need one, need one right now then 500 is better than 750 assuming condition is nearly new. In which case you can view it as a 250 saving. Its not a great secondhand bargain in that case, certainly I have sold better bikes for less, but it's a 250 saving to you at this point in time. It's all relative. Just buy it and get your buns out there on the bike. Put in an offer of 450 and see where it takes you.

Hope not too cheeky but if you want an alternative - older but better equipped could look at this one for €450 http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=186096

    Cadex.

Groupset and wheels are substantially better on Cadex's one, I would tend towards that.

Definately not over priced. You have my word it's almost as good as brand new... and selling only for 500 (currently 750 new)
A few offers for it but want to sell it quickly so willing to 'negotiate'.
    It'a a fullsize frame (I'm quite tall)

Here are the pics that were just taken this weekend:

@Lizanne , I was reading your blog(s) last night as a friend of mine has suffered something similar and is fiercely interested in post- trauma rehab etc. She's a serious pilates instructor and would agree with you on the importance of core strength.

Anyway, good for you on your recovery albeit limited to 98% (!) and your dedication is admirable.

sorry for dragging this off topic

I think they're different sizes, though it's not too clear.

The red one looks prettier, but it really is hard to justify €500 on those components.

Ah thanks Poochiem... it's been a horrific few years (particularly with running injury when a passionate runner) so I bought the bike on impulse... while still too injured to use it properly (hence why practically new!)
As for the spec, I am involved with triathletes and I know that lappiere use all their own equip and shimano top spec etc. Bike shops (and where I bought this new) have advised me that this is definately worth 500 and no problem selling at that considering it's almost new lappierre... but... ahhh am I willing to do 450? If deal to be done this week it's done for around 450! with pump under-saddle pack... oh and those cycling back pack things which I never used either. God what a waste!
