My panasonic (freeview) tv has just asked me to rescan, and it's found some changes. Presumably it is more than just a name change? Some other changes must have occurred. On my Philips freeview receiver it was showing two networks coming from Mt. Leinster one as RTENL the other being RTÉNL (which only had RTE1 associated with it)

Banner changes too on Mt. Leinster.

RTE 1
RTE 2
TV 3 (4:3 Aspect Ratio)
TG 4

The radio channels only seem to show RT (presumably because of the accent over the E).??

I think that but then it does show the full name for RTÉ
Radió Na Gaeltachta with all the accents showing.

They had just a blank carrier on ch39 yesterday and up untill about lunchtime from mt leinster and were off air on ch49 meaning we had the pleasure of film four and Viva and four music and dave+1 etc last night and this morning.

Back to the full nova esque jamming right now though on the most tested transmitter in Ireland... as I see ch49 is back on carrying RTÉ etc ,though most wexford people wouldn't know as they've presely aerials and the two cancel each other out.

I'm hopefully going to see a new Blaenplwyf install with a group A aerial in the next week or 2 weather permitting.
They've a line of sight straight out to sea in that general direction :)

When we could tune in the MPEG4 trial it was only showing RT1 for RTÉ 1 presumably for the accent over the E. RTE2 was coming up OK with no accent but no space between the letters and numbers. (Not sure if there is supposed to be but that is how I would always have typed it). TV3 and TG4 were fine.

I see the Crosshaven tests have stopped. Sooner or later they will have to make a decision: do they launch commercially with only one mux or delay. Certainly there really should have been due diligence before procuring a four mux system: in the commercial world you would never commit to buying all this kit before having a firm legally binding contract. That should be probed. The operating costs of running these phantom muxes will be significant to a cash strapped broadcaster like RTE. With the BBC due to announce significant retrenchment of its activities today the spotlight will naturally fall on RTE's activities.

The Welsh switchover accelerates as Wenvoe begins the DSO transition tomorrow and from next Wednesday Blaen-Plwyf will radiate all six muxes including HD. It will be most interesting to hear your report on BP reception.

What spotlight .From your perch in London you seem to have forgotten the BBC and RTE are in two separate countries and the British media couldn't care less if RTE throw all it's money straight into a fire .

Guys-QUIT the mrdtv bashing on this forum or I will be forced to take action.
Theres only a very select few involved and it is NOT welcome.
Final warning.

Back on topic:

There is no doubt in my mind that if one visions plans fall through, then RTÉnl will be on the receiving end of tough questions as to why it has so many repeat muxes on at mt leinster or other sites should that continue.
The pressure will be on to fast track saorview..
The pot of money RTÉ has on it's own to pay for that is an ever increasing bank overdraft.
No bank or government will allow that to continue and theres no public appetite for a licence fee increase.

Really back on topic:D

I notice that, as well as identifying TV3 with the label 4:3 aspect ratio, the channels are now displaying the correct aspect ratio - yay!

RTE 1 and 2 were switching aspect ratio this morning from widescreen to 4:3 depending on the programme content. Just a few label corrections and getting the station sequence correct (can't have TV3 before RTE2;)) and the technical side will be ready! C'mon RTENL - put the service live:)
