Laptop power problems

Hi, my laptop, Dell Inspiron 6000 has recently had power problems. The battery in the laptop itself has been dead for a couple of years and now, the power adapter or any other dell/universal adapters fail to power it. The connection of the adapter appears to be a bit loose when connected and the power flicks on and off (mainly off).

I have been told that the problem is probably the pin that is connected to the laptops power socket is faulty and that this pin is connected to the mother board which would have to be replaced to fix the problem.

Can anyone confirm that this is the likely problem and replacing the mother board (which would be costly) is the only solution? And where in Dublin, if possible, could it be fixed?

Please help as its terrible without a computer... :)

sounds like the charging pin. It is usually a simple matter of replacing the charging jack. There are lots of places to choose from - laptop repair dublin

In have outsourced to Computers Unlimited and they seem pretty good. Perhaps ring around and give each repair centre your laptop make and model - prices can vary greatly.

Thanks for the advice. Well hopefully I can get the pin replaced and not the mother board as was suggested to me.

Anyways, I'll give a few of those places a call.
