thoes american eagle are good value if they suit your rifle. i was getting good groups out to 100 m but the wondered a bit out passt that. so my advise is use them if they work in your rifle.
i'v bin using hornady 55g vmax with great results , as in no movement once hit they drop on the spot .
at the weekend i picked up some federal v-shock 55g again and sako game head 55g. all of which work well in my tika.
all of these cost between €25 & €30 per b ox of 20.

i have to say that the ballistic tip round give an instant kill and dont over penatrate , meening once you hit your targot the bullet does not travel on much further as it gives up all its energy on impact.
    hope that helps happy hunting.;)

I mostly use the Hornady 40grn VMax aswell but the RWS Dynamit Nobel 55 grain mantel is also excellent, getting good groups from both.

40grain V-max works a treat for me also, lately as I'm on a budget though have being using remington UMC..they are only ok tbh.

I only have my 223 rifle for a while, but i bought a 100 rounds of remington umc ammo. Im getting flyers with them. I fire groups of four and can get them decent enough but always have one, odd time 2, that are an inch or 2 out from the group. Am going to buy dearer ammo from now on

Best in my CZ varmint 1-9 twist is 40gr V-Shok. Then 55 v-shok, v-max. The 55gr american eagle HPBTare good value and i will use them for the foxes.

IMO, a Jacketed Hollow Point of about 55grains. I would not use FMJ on a Fox as it tends to go straight tru, whereas the JHP is less likely to exit

thanks guys some great points, just wondering if im better off sticking to a heavier grain like 50 or 55 if im gonna be shooting out to 200 yards and over for a kill or would it make a difference if i dropped to say a 40g v-max at that kind of distance...
    any advice would be appreciated
    thanks;)

Out at 200 yards I recommend 55 grain

This is the best I have shot and OK it's off the bench but shows what can be got using an out of the box rifle. And FishSlapped can do the same with his CZ varmint.

CZ varmint in 223 with kevlar stock 1 in 9 twist shooting Federal 40gr V-Shok @300m.

40 gr hornady v-max and 55 gr federal ballistic tips suit my remmy 700 1 in 12 twist barrel ,,
any of the american eagle are fine at 100 but tend to have a mind of their own after that :) grand and cheap do for practiceing/zeroing:rolleyes: with
