    Oh Dear Victor....change,as ever in Ireland,comes dropping slowly.....v e r y slowly.

A quick browse through the Candidate Information Booklet for the Director of Public Transport Services shows that this is one VERY wide ranging post, with the capacity to get wider by the minute.

What concerns me is the canvassing for a Key Senior NTA Appointment so late in the day and well after the NTA`s setup.

I would have thought it good business practice to have had this position already filled and active during the devision and implimentation of the Public Service Obligation contracts as already signed up to ?

Also we see some worrying signs of more twaddle as the new appointee will be required to "Take Over" the Integrated Ticketing Programme from the RPA in what is now looking like a VERY expensive game of Pass-The-Parcel extending over almost a decade.

There appears to be a very large element of making it up as we go along here and almost no example of the integrated, centralized forward planning that typifies most of Europe as they go about their Public Transport business.

I cannot believe just how slipshod these people are in their attitude to Public Transport PLANNING....These particular posts are CENTRAL to the ethos of a National Transport Authority and admitting to having such an Authority already in place without them is approaching madness, never mind bad administrative practive.

Having said that,I can envisage quite a few well known industry "Faces" slipping into the interviewees chair come the Springtime !

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I get the impression that the ITS office will move wholesale to the NTA, retaining current staff.
