One weird tip... about applying for jobs which have an OTT job description

This is just something I've noticed recently and I think it might be of interest to some people.

Frequently a manager will make his job specs as impressive sounding/as complex as possible because he wants to make his department and in effect his job appear more important, busier, more difficult, etc. And more than likely, he doesn't really need anyone with all those skills.

Basically, it's just an ego/insecurity/political thing.

So that job you saw advertised which you think you'd probably be good at but the job spec seems a bit scary... give it a shot.

Oh, and don't forget to sell yourself in your cover letter and CV. If you think you can do the job, say why.
