    Electric or acoustic?

I know Thomann.de/ie do a few electric starter packs (amp, guitar, strap, etc.) for €98 and €15 delivery. So €113 for a starter pack delivered (in four or five days usually i believe) isn't too shabby. Guitar stands off them only cost like €6 or €7 too, so it's not too bad if you buy all at once.

Walden Acoustics have come out with a new acoustic for €99.00, very nice little player.

Epiphone also have some great acoustics now starting at about €119.00 i believe. After that you can look at Fender Squier acoustics, normally not too shabby and well priced.

Depending on your budget you can get a really nice starter acoustic that sounds great. Look at Takamine G Series, they start at around €170.00 for a folk body shape which is nice.

    Regards,

Imo the best guitar for the price you pay is a Yamaha F310 acoustic guitar.

I've been playing for years and have a couple of really nice guitars and just the other day I went out and picked one up from Argos for 150euros.

I think it's a great guitar for the price.

I would buy a second hand guitar and pay up to €200 for it. If you are serious about learning €200 will be money very well spent and you will have a guitar that you will probably never get rid of.

Cheap new guitars and their flat tinny, narrow sound will bore and frustrate you.

Alternatively some of your mates may have a second/old guitar they keep under the bed. Borrow it off them (if they are tight fisted, a modest fee can change hands) and batter away on it until you reach a degree of competency and then go out looking to buy.

I'd strongly advise against buying a cheap new guitar, they are cheap for a reason. With practice you will get proficent, you will regret the save now pay later model.

I bought a Tanglewood for €250 in Xmusic as my first guitar, an electro-acoustic one. Totally love it.
