Is it possible to record two programs that overlap?

i.e. If one program is on from 8-10 and the other is on from 9-10, can I record both?

    Thanks.

Yes but you can't use the box while they're recording.

From my UPC HD box the answer seems to be "yes and no, depending on unclear circumstances." On occasion, it will allow two shows to be recorded at the same time. However, the price for this is that the box must remain on standby while they are recording, meaning you can't watch TV and record two items.

More often, it will grumble that the recordings overlap.

Sorry for the mini hijack ...

Are the UPC DVR any good ? ...just been offered on for €5 extra a month ?

If you had the chance again would you get one or run a mile ?

for €5 a month it's well worth it, you may end up having problems with the boxes like some people have but it will be replaced for free unlike Sky. I've had it for about 2 years and fortunately have had no issues with it. Since I've got it they've brought in the series link which has been a great addition. It's been so handy as well having it for the Olympics.

Apparently for the same €5 extra month you can instead get the HD DVR, which is supposed to be a much better box.

    Thanks...
So the HD DVR is for HD channels , correct?
Do you need an extra subscription to view HD channels and get full benifits ?

How do I know the difference between REG or HD ?

    What's REG?
The €5 a month is the extra subscription for "Digital+ HD" which for some reason costs the same as just "Digital+" (SDTV DVR). There's not many HD channels (especially if you're only on the Value pack, I think it's only BBC HD with that), but it's worth it for the better DVR.

I assume REG is regular TV. or Standard definition, or SD as ye call it round here.

Thanks Lads... Yea by saying REG I meant SD , just not with the lingo these days.

So for an extra €5 I can get s recordable HD box ?
If so it might be worth my while as I'm on the Digital max pack, since Friday.
How many HD channels is on this pack ?

    Here's a more useful list than what's on UPC's website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_UPC_Ireland
