Nike + Ipod

Just got myself a new Ipod touch and saw the Nike Plus feature thing in it and was wondering did anybody here have any experience with it. Seems like it would be a big outlay (would need knew runners and then the transmitter thing too) so was wondering would people recommend it or say pass??? Thanks for any input.
