    Morning all,

What causes this again, Its probably been mentioned
loads of times before. Thought we had a Gas Mag FAQ someplace before with repair guides etc but did not see it
    this morning.

KJW P229 I tried today for the first time.
Its venting all the gas from the mag after the 2nd-3rd shot
    every time.

tis Lubbed up inside and out, mag tapper valve works fine ie does not stick. (I think somebody once said not to oil this too much for some reasoN)

Is it under warranty? I just read your comparison, so sounds like its quite new. If so, get it checked over as it's more than likley a quick fix.

I've had a lot of gas mag trouble with my M9 mags...the thing that's causing mine are the body pins...I can't get them fully in, so it's venting through them. It might be similar for yourself.

What brand of oil are you using?
I had the misfortune to use silicone oil from Lidl in both the mags my TM Deagle and KCS Usp, spraying some into the mag and around the mag gas release striker and on both occasions gas started to seep from the top of the mag
It seemed as if the oil is a bit too sticky/clingy and was not allowing the striker pin to return fully under the weight of its own spring

So after wiping as much excess oil as I could and using 3in1 silicone oil and firing off several mags it came right
So I now only use 3in1 silicone oil for most things and as for the remainder of that can of Lidl oil, well I figure if it sticks and clings to metal that good it is just the thing to use on the slides of my GBB pistols, but I keep it well away from the mags

Yeah its the lidl oil but its the first time I've had an issue
with it. I use the lidl stuff all of the time and never had problems. I'll take the valve out and give it a good clean
and try a different oil to see if that will fix it. Does not look as though its sticking at all though.

it is only when I apply the Lidl silicone oil to the area of the mag that is struck by the stricker (firing pin) that i get a problem
I suppose like motor oil there are many different grades/thickness of oil and the one sold by Lidl is just a bit to thick/dense/sticky for most airsoft uses, then again i may be wrong but the results speak for themself
You only need a very small gap between the valve plunger and valve seat to allow high pressure gas 140 psi+ to escape and when the gas starts to escape you get the cool down effect which causes the o-ring seals to become hard and loose there ability to seal properly
