From the TI website competition rules section:
Add-ons such as computer or lighting brackets and mounting points must be positioned so as to prevent injury in the event of a crash or collision with other competitors or spectators. NOTE: this also applies to mountain bike handlebar extensions.

I have "extensions" on the end of my handle bars on my mountain bike. I plan to use this bike in the Nass duathlon on Sun 14th March. What does this rule mean and is it / will it be strictly enforced?

Don't need help with this rule. If it gets that bad I'm going home.:D
    a.The Competitor:

◦May run or walk as the only means of locomotion.

    ◦May not crawl

I have seen people race with bar ends, I guess they are not much different to tri bars. Just make sure there are no sharp ends... end plugs or tape them.

thanks for that. I think I'll leave them for now so. I will bring allen keys just in case.

I cant comment on bike checking in your event but in my experience if your bike is checked at all at a race (which it seldom is) it will be a marshall checking your brakes as you enter transition.

Usually brakes (both) and helmet fitting are the focus of the referee. Tri bars are allowed. Bring your allen key and be prepared to take them off.
