What is the current divorce rate in Ireland? Will it increase for people that get married nowadays I wonder.

Its a funny one. If the rate is 30 or 40% in some countries then you have to assume that every marriage has a 30-40% chance of ending in divorce. Do people think of this when they marry?

The initial backlog of cases (both emotional and legal) has cleared, so I understand there are relatively few cases at the moment. I suspect as we move forward the number of cases will rise again, in line with international patterns.

That's not quite the way it works. Some marriages have 90% chance of breaking up and others 10%. The average works out at somewhere in between.

There is no particular reason to think that the average will apply to your own case. You could as easily think the chances of success are greater or less than average.
