Anybody know these definitively? Website says "Open 7 days a week, Mon-Sat, 10 to 6." If that's not ambiguous, I don't know what is!!

I was out there yesterday and they had a sign saying that they are no longer open on Sundays.

Just out of interest (as I know the X Guys), do you think they should be open Sunday? (BtW - there's PA night on Wednesday night).

I have heard - stress HEARD

that they have let some people go and are letting more go and sunday s are gone to reflect this .

pity cos the weekend warriors are out on a sunday to buy gear .

shame cos Sunday is handy when you're travelling just to buy gear

*suddenly has flashback to travelling up to the Dandelion market as a teenager to 'buy gear'*

Hey Paul. Had tried that, got the pre-recorded message but that didn't tally with the site, which was why I was confused.

Was looking for a Jazzmaster - checked out two in a reputable enough instrument shop in town. One had been sent out for repair and put back on the shelf (not a deal-breaker in and of itself, but still a bit of a turn-off). The other had issues with the fret work - huge turn-off. Headed down to Waltons who had one, but there were two young lads shredding away in the practice rooms. Waited around for twenty minutes before leaving, sans guitar :(

I think X-Music has done an awful lot to advance the quality of customer service and the quality of instruments available to consumers here. But I think opening on a Sunday is essential, even if it means shutting up shop mid-week. Still on the look-out for a Jazzmaster for a Robert Smith odyssey!

if you press 1 you get through.

I'd agree that one would think a Midweek closing day would be better than a Sunday.

In my days in Music Maker we always found Weds to be quietest but also didn't work Sundays.

    J ......

    No, only joking!

Press 1 will get your call answered, they'll then put you through to Guitars.

:D Thanks, had already emailed them and gotten a reply. Email is better than phone for me these days.

Is anyone going to the Peavey PA night at XMusic on Wednesday?

I tried that a few times and no one picked up the phone.
I figured they were on a work to rule action. :)

I've spent a lot of money the last two years on equipment, most of it going to thomann or musicstore because I can't rely on xmusic. I'd rather spend it here but it's such a pain in the hole to get down to and the product search on their website is woeful.

I think they should probably get in some tasty Jazzmasters.

You bought a Mustang?...thought you were looking for a Jazzmeister?

Yeah I was. Didn't see anything I'd have been completely happy with, MIM Fenders lesave alot ot be desired in my experience. Really happy with the MIJ Mustang though. Shorter scale-length than I'd normally go for, but an absolutely beautiful neck and excellent fret work from what I can gather.

Good to hear you got sorted locally.

I remember Steve from the Music Inc days when I used to work in Music Maker.

He's a gent as well as being very knowledgeable.

This is very true, a small bit of advice be careful buying in any shop when a warranty is important, because your warranty is with the shop, not the brand so if you're amp fails and the shop is gone, you are screwed.

I found this out the hard way with a gps unit I got in a store that closed a few months later and then my gps started acting funny and sony wouldn't even talk to me.

    Tomas,

Post this over on Consumer Issues, you will probably get some good advice there...

Yes, your contract is with the store, as you can (and should) use them as a point of contact for issues, but if they have gone bust then this does not absolve Sony from any warranty coverage..

You can probably take this to the Small Claims Court... (costs about 15 Euro)

Thanks Welease, but it is too late for me, I got the Gps unit a couple of years ago. I not even sure if I still have it in the house somewhere, I certainly don't have the receipt.

I don't think X-Music are going anywhere, so I wouldn't worry. Did you see the newsletter? They have Steve Gadd in the store before his April 17 Helix gig, and free tix to win too I think. Can't see it on the website though - I'll try and find out more.

Ahh thats a pity.. but it's worth remembering you only need "proof of purchase" not a receipt.. So a credit card statement or anything that proves where and when you bought it will suffice :)

..and I'll stop derailing this thread right about...... now ;)

Out of interest, what are these guys like to deal with when it comes to ordering online?
