Just sold one. Firstly you would get a second hand one for half price.

Secondly its preamps in my uneducated opinion are not up to scratch.. I changed mine and got an apogee duet. Best thing i have bought this year although it only works with a mac...

I would deffo look around before i shelved out 1000quid.. Some of the guys using pro tools might be able to steer you in the right direction...

In that price range I'd get the profire 2626.

this mixer has the same amount of inputs as the profire and is a actual mixer so its better than the pro fire thats just my opinion.

Firstly, I'm no pro - just a home studio guy. However, I did a lot of research on the M-Audio Projectmix a while back when I was setting up my home studio. I'd def agree with Alan re going 2nd hand of you decide to get one.

See this thread for a relevant discussion around the various routes into multichannel Pro Tools options.

.. also see this thread for some good discussion around the relative merits (or not) of Pro Tools LE & system requirements
