Have to get some new bedroom furniture very soon and I'd like to try and verify that if I buy a wooden bed frame for instance that it is made of wood that is sourced sustainably.

EnvironmentFurniture in the CHQ shopping centre seem to be the only place that do such a thing but their prices are a bit mad.

Anyone know of anywhere else I can try?

I emailed some conventional bed retailers but they never came back to me when I asked this question.

I'd also probably want a wooden bedside table, perhaps a few other bits and pieces as well.

I'd like to get a sofa that is made from sustainable materials as well but I realise that's probably out of the question.

Yes I've been in that CHQ place and while the pieces are beautiful and very sustainable, the prices are plain silly. Definitely on the luxury-end of the scale.

Generally, you should look for the FSC label on any wooden products.

TBH you could do worse than IKEA.

    Hi Gekko,
If you were looking for sustainably sourced/hand made furniture I can recommend a furniture builder based in Clonakilty to you. Can tell you where the tree fell that supplied the wood for the piece!

PM if you want contact details.
