After seeing the above abomination of a car, it makes me wonder is there a place for them in the luxury segment anymore? I mean, I can't think of one half decent car they've made since the original IS and most of their cars just look either bland or a complete disaster (RX450h) today. They don't particularly shine in any department either, with cars like the GS having become largely forgotten also-rans in their segment.

    So, what do people think?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

They started on a high, coming out of nowhere, with the LS400. Granted - there's no style or beauty in that car, but comfort and luxury were right up there with the S-class Mercedes and reliability was probably better.

That was 20 years ago though. It's been downhill ever since...

Still think the GS and LS are lovely motors.

Just seen the SC lined up with the current line up of Lexi like having a gravy stain on your tie!

I love the look of the GS. THe GS 450h is quick in any company. Its not really 'driving' though. That is the down side to them.

I just don't get Lexus, the luxury car for the person who doesn't really like cars. That CT really is horrific looking, up there with the new RX in the design stakes.

The one thing about Lexus that I will never understand is that to buy one you must have made a conscious decision not to buy a BMW/MB/Audi/Jaguar/RR.

I like the IS and nearly bought one but I found out that the dealer was telling me lies. He claimed it had one owner, I found out it had three owners plus a car dealer, it had only been taxed for three months when new and was untaxed for a year... very strange!

Based on the original Lexus proposition that was the LS compared to the competion (A8 / 7-series / S-class):

    1. Superior build quality / reliability
    2. Superior customer service
    3. Superior (standard) spec
    4. Comfort / luxury on a par
    5. You don't want an Audi / BMW / Mercedes or you have been disappointed by one in the past

You've got to hand it to Toyota, they had some balls introducing the LS as a direct competitor to the best car in the world, the S-class. And then without flinching to price it at the same level

It worked well for them for some time - especially in the US. I've no idea how market share globally is these days but I would not be surprised if they've gone down compared to the above 3.
