As the title says, the big switch off started today. Most Blue FTV cards have now lost Sky3, Viva and Liverpool TV. Strangely they still decode Five (Where applicable), Five USA and Fiver.

Hopefully its a sign that Five USA and Fiver are soon to go FTA!

Does Five actually go? I have a white FTV (NI region) card. I took it out of the box. The NI region EPG remained, plus Five was still viewable at 105. Five USA and Fiver were gone as expected (insert viewing card message on screen). Turned off box and turned it on again. Five still there. Powering off the box altogether forced the box back to the default EPG and then Five was gone along with the 105 position. Five USA and Fiver channel numbers gone too.

it goes off only in certain regions , including most of England, but not Wales.

Anybody with a blue ftv card registered in the green region as outlined attached will not loose ch5 (on epg).

Old blue cards (especially the ones which still have five) are still useful for regionalising an EPG where one doesnt have any other (UK) cards. So that they get BBC NI/UTV instead of that odd mixture of BBC London/ITV Westcountry/No Five one gets without any card

If one isint bothered about the lack of Sky 3/Fiver/Five USA they are just as good as a current FTV card and there must be millions of the things around now.

So dont chuck away your old UK cards. Give them to someone who had no card.
