Hotpoint WM53 First Edition 1200 drum not moving

    Hi,

I have a 9 year old Hotpoint WM53 First Edition 1200 washing machine.

The drum does not move after it has been filled it water or during the spin cycle. Other cycles on the dial have been tried but the drum still does not move, so I do not think it is an electrical/control problem.

Do you think the bushings on the motor have worn or the motor could be faulty ? I did not get a chance to look at it, my wife just rang me in work and wants it fixed ASAP.

I'm in blanchardstown area at the moment do you know where I can get bushings or motor ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.

I did not get a chance to look at it myself but I've picked up a set of brushes for it. Fingers crossed that's it.

Yep I had to try something over the weekend. It was either that or get a new washing machine. I did not fancy spending €300+ so I bought the brushes for €24 knowing that I could return it if I did not open it.

It took about 30 mins to change them and it sorted the problem.

    Thanks again for you input.
