    Hi all

Partner may have redundancies coming up and we are putting measures in place so as not to be stuck for money when times get lean.

If i still have my job (and it looks ok for now) does that mean that he won't be eligable for rent supplement? Meaning will I have to cover our rent (approx 900) out of my own wages?

If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it. I earn 34K a year if that helps..

AFAIK your partner wont be eligable for Rent Supplement once you are working.

    Well that sucks!

Does that mean that he may only get whatever the job seekers allowance is, or is that means tested?

My god, it's a very bleak outlook we have if we're living on just my wage.

If your partner has been paying contributions and has enough then they will be entitled to Jobseekers Benefit, which isnt means tested.
However, if your partner hasnt got enough contributions then they will have to apply for Jobseekers Allowence which is means tested, and your wages will be taken into account for the amount of money they get.

Theres a rough calculator in the stickies, which would tell you how much your partner would be entitled to, taking your wages into account.
