I have noticed in the last few weeks that after i do an interval/Vo2 session,i have this buzz about me for the rest of the day.
Only a race makes me feel better......

I dont feel like that after any other type of training run, tempos are a slog,LSR's bore me...and aerobic runs are handy.

Its obviously because of the intensity and it gets the blood flowing, but i was just wondering does anyone else out there feel like that after a training run ?

naw the flat out sessions leave me high (and hyper), the long just leaves me tired and sore. Funnily enough it's not the same on the bike. Long bikes make me a little hyper, short hard stuff "bah".

Tempo run - between 8 and 12 miles

12+ X 400m after 8 reps I just want to give up after session is over I want to do it again(but cant). House later I usually feel on top of the world.

I must be different, then. I feel best after really long runs, like marathon distance training runs. I feel incredibly energised for the rest of the day after one of those.

Definetly Tempo Runs - when I've hit my target pace for 6 miles I'm buzzing and feel really positive about my running and know I just did something I could repeat in a race.

    Whereas:
PMP Runs - I think, great you can do it for less than 10 miles but how's about another 16-18 at that pace?? not likely.
Intervals - you can barely hold the pace for half a mile and feel like puking...never fills me with conifdence that I can run at that pace for 5k straight in a race.
LSR's - Break out the champagne and start celebrating - you just did a 20 miler, which is 6 miles less than you need to run on race day, at a pace 1 min per mile slower than you are expected to run on race day and you feel exhausted - always leaves me full of confidence...not.

A good intervals session when you've hit your targets, especially if you've had to battle ome demons, is hard to beat.

But so is the feeling after the Sunday long run when you can relax in the corner of the pub with the paper and a pint, completely guilt free and at ease with the world :)

Never felt that great after interval sessions myself, always preferred the feeling after a hard 5 miles or some similar distance.

Hard intervals and sets for me, maybe it's the sense of accomplishment, longer runs is just the tired oul feeling were I want to sleep or cabbage afterwards.

Majority are saying intervals,i thought as much.
Surprised at the tempos by Gringo...i know your thoughts behind it,but they (in my view) are tougher than intervals.

I think everyone hates LSR's ........they are so boring and your legs get stiff because you never get a good stride going....good stretch needed after them.

Intervals for me, but obviously depends on hitting the numbers, after a good set of intervals when you are 1 - 2 secs ahead of your target and don't feel like you are killing yourself - you just want to bottle that feeling and save it for a race!
