After being on motorcycles for some time getting back into cycling I am looking out for a decent lid. I feel so exposed without wearing anything particularly in city traffic and wouldn't mind getting something decent but at the same time don't want to wear something that looks hideous.

It's a shame arai don't make cycle helmets. Try on a giro stylus @ around €65. Nice neat helmet and not too pricey.

Very light, great price, can't beat it. Doesn't have any sophisticated adjusters, but it's only a helmet.

Pity, their name would sell them, my Astra knocked me back €450

I see Bell making them, the were popular with motorcycle helmets in the 80ies but not too many around now.

I'm just getting back to cycling after being on the motorbike for years. I still cycled a bit but not going to work. the specialized echelon is the helmet I ended up getting but it still looks like a toadstool (it's white and red) I'm not sure how long I'll use it for though.

Tried Giro and dont like em.
Catlike is great. Very light great ventilation. Comfortable. Looks fantastic. Very few people have them.

Cool mirror attachment. Me want, although preferably a big bigger.

Not a recommendation but, I have an Abus helmet the one with the light on the back. I hate it. Hard to put on, tends to re-adjust itself when you take it off and I have little faith in the straps.

It is essential to always wear sunglasses regardless of the weather when out cycling. This is to maintain your cool

The apparent stupidity is directly proportional to the shape of your skull. What might look good on you could easily look stupid on someone else.

Go local, try as many on as you can to get an idea of size and fit. I have a Giro but have found Bell helmets fit me better, the Giro compresses the front of my head.

Now it makes sense! Where can you get Catlike Whispers in Dublin - wouldn't buy a helmet online.

    And finally ...

check out chainreaction cycles (linked to above) ^ ^ and browse their helmet section based on price and looks or whatever, a helmet is a personal choice. Or just get a stradivarious.
