Trying to Exploit my French & Italian (but not call centres or Google!)

    Howdee,

I've been doing some research into some ways I could be exploiting my language skills in Ireland. I speak French and Italian, and they are wasted on me to be honest.

I don't live in Dublin, and currently work in online marketing. This is an area, I suppose, I could try and exploit with languages, but I'm not sure what route to take.

Google and the likes would usually hire or prefer native speakers of French, or Italian etc., as you would be dealing with those markets, and probably have to write up documents and emails in those languages. Now, not being a native speaker, my writing skills wouldn't be the strongest, so I seem to fall short there, and obviously for translating jobs as well.

So, I'm trying to think of other ways I could exploit them here. I have been looking for some wine importers even, to see if they would require the services of a French and Italian speaker (It would seem obvious....).

I am even thinking of some night course or part time degree or diploma I could do that would add to what I have (technical writing post grad), but would enable me to use the languages. I did think of maybe an international business or business related course, but I've never been much of a sales person.
Anyone know if the area of software localisation is doing ok these days?

There's also the tourist industry which would be another obvious one, but what is question....

Anyone any other avenues I could look at? I've hit a bit of a wall this week, so am out of ideas...

Most of the 'with languages' jobs I see advertised are either in sales or accounts/credit control so the business course might not be far off. A friend of mine speaks the same languages and has a business degree but doesn't want to work in an office so works on the Eiffel Tower instead!

Lots of Tax accounting work involves a second language...

But do you really want to spend your life doing VAT reclaims?! :p

Most guys I know in it started out with just a business degree and are doing the exams while being sponsored by their employers...
