Car accident claim - what to do next

Hi everyone, just looking for some generally advice on the best way forward. Hope someone can guide me

The incident: I was driving my car, stopped at a roundabout. The car behind me ran into the back of my car. He obviously was at fault and has accepted responsibility and his insurance company is now dealing with this.

The car: I have got two quotes so far to fix the damaged bumper, both of which are so pricey I fear the insurance company may consider the car a write off ie uneconomical to repair. Neither quote assessed the possibility of damage to the underside of the car due to the hitch being hit, so the damage could yet be more.

Me: Neck and shoulder pain probably whiplash, been to a/e xrayed and drugged to the nines since. due for review in a week to see if physio necessary or not. I'm still working but only out of absolute necessity(nobody else to do the job) but have cancelled all my overtime for next few weeks.

Insurance are to send an assessor for the car on Monday and a claims assessor is to contact me mon/tues also with regard to my injuries medical expenses etc.
What is the best way to deal with this? Will I have to settle the car claim and the medical claim together? I could be dealing with medical bills for months so I may have to delay that part but at the same time my car needs to be repaired/replaced. Also, if I am to pursue a personal injury claim is this something I have to do now as part of this process or is it separate from medical expenses.

The insurance company have so far been not very forthcoming about information and the way the process works. When they called today and I basically had to drag stuff out of them to get all my options so I want to know the process (what happens and when it happens) and be prepared for whatever they say to me. Id really appreciate it if someone could explain the series of events that will happen next

Solicitor please. See one. You can't rely on advice here - PERIOD...

I will leave this open, but read the charter.

    Ta ta.

A lot of insurance companies are very pushy and aggressive in how they go about "settling" cases very quickly after accidents. You do not have to settle your claim with them immediately. You can settle the material damage claim for the car now, but I would not recommend settling your personal injuries claim now - particularly as you may have ongoing symptoms, further complications, medical bills, etc.

    Consult a solicitor urgently.

.... and good luck with the recovery,
