Wage Cut

I work in a company where we have 4 other branches throughout Ireland. Last May they informed us that they where introducing a 10% pay cut throughout the whole group. However we in the Dublin branch have learned that at least 1 of the other branche have not taken the pay cut as they are all in a Union(no other branch is).

I have read somewhere that they cannot bring in the pay cut unless it is in every branch. (Like Tesco making 1 shop take a pay cut!!!!)

Are they allowed do this to us????

Strictly speaking, nobody's pay can be cut unilaterally. Agreement from the individual worker or the union is required.

In the public sector they got around this by passing a law. In the private sector they get around this by insinuating or implying that anyone who doesn't like it will get sacked.

talk to someone in the branch that is unionised and join the same union?
(union subs are at least partially tax deductible)
