    Hey guys,

I'm trying to get my friend a membership in my home course and along with the application form he needs letters of approval from two seperate members. I was just wondering what the club would be looking for with these letters and how long they have to be etc.. Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't mention etiquette at all, as it's not what they are looking for.

Something on the lines of, How long they know the chap, that he's and honest and upstanding individual and that they would consider him an asset to the club. Does not have to be more than 3 - 4 lines long, just make sure that they are signed and dated.

As an aside, I thought these letters went out with the Indians.

Most clubs still require you be proposed and seconded by a long standing member and also play a round with them.
With clubs in the financial state they are in ,I'd say they will grab any few pound they can.

    Dear Hon. Sec,

I met this punter in Coppers last night, off his face trying to pull a John Hayes look-a-like. I've never seen anyone vomit so much. Says he's a handy golfer, may be of use in mixed foursomes.

    Warm Regards,

    in Coppers

    Dear Sheet,

Enough said, he's in like Flynn, tell him he's on the sheet at 1030 tomorrow morning, and we're waving the entrance fee and his first three years sub.

    Regards,

    Hon Sec
