I am thinking of getting the AGM Scar but would like to know if it is reliable. Or if you have any gun with the AGM Gearbox V.2 i would like to know if it works well.

I was thinking of getting the D-Boys scar but a friend of mine got a D-Boys and had to do a lot of work on it. This will be my first gun so i would like it to be cheap while reliable out of the box. I used an AGM Stg 44 at the weekend and i loved it, so I looked for an AGM Scar and found it on M.I.A.

P.S. I know the G36c is advised to start with but i desperately want a scar :D.

I've found AGM gearboxes to be quite decent and heard good things about them as well as bad. Dboys gearboxes are great, solid and reliable, the only thing I don't like is the plastic bushings, but otherwise they're brilliant.
Flecktarn has the AGM Scar, so he'll be able to tell you some more.

Generally speaking most ACM clones are made of good stuff,,,its the shoddy assembly work that lets them down,,most are shimmed pretty badly to begin with or have hop up bucking that are incorrectly seated.

Its worth every penny of the small outlay to drop the replica in to a local tech and have him/her Re-shim/clean/re-grease and give the replica a good going over and tightening.

As Lefty said I have the AGM Scar. I really really like it, very ergonomic with a folding stock and a rake of rails for your torches, lasers, sights etc.

I wouldn't be able to comment on the range due to my being shipped to me with hop-up pieces missing and having replaced them with more high end ones. But yeah I found it to be very reliable and I love it to bits. AGM are known to be fairly decent anyways :)

Anything else you want to know?

Yeah, is the stock sturdy? I heard of scar stocks getting damaged pretty easily.

Just don't go slamming it into things and it'll be grand. Replacement parts are easy to source anyway.

Ok, so it would be a good buy? Considering it is going to be my first gun, and i dont want to have to go fixing it up.

Yep as Lefty said just don't abuse it, I've found it grand. Yeah I think it would be a great starter gun.

    +1 on that.
I've the AGM Scar and I use it as a secondary (for when I get bored using the 556) and it's pretty decent. Nice weight, no problems with the gearbox, reasonable for a clone. I'm also with Hairyman - it could do with a shim job, general work over, and most of the parts needed a bit of tightening to make it feel more solid - but that done it's now well respectable! One little thing that took a bit of getting used to (and perhaps it's just me), but the mag needs to be pushed home fully - until you get used to it there's a chance you think it's in place (and the gun is feeding) but a slight jolt knocks it free - turns out that you need to be sure it's clicked home fully. Not a problem with the aeg - just the user!
