    Hi all.

I think it'd be interesting to see the diversity of Boardsies' jobs, so I suggest that everyone posts here and tells us what they work as/their occupation. If you're unemployed, maybe you can post the area you'd like to get a job in.

    So to begin:

Unemployed :o - hoping to get work in the banking/finance area.

    Business systems analyst.

But currently very few businesses have projects to change their systems, meaning there's little work in that line. So I'm a starter-website builder, blogger expert, and temporary office-worker. Only the latter ones pays, and then it's only casual!

since been made redundant last year i do agency work to keep me ticking over i might have to change occupation as my industry is going down hill fast(even before the R came) with wages T&C. with companies paying their drivers 80-100e a day(which is about 12-15hrs work a day).
if i had the $$$ i would go on and complete my comercail pilots licence so if anyone has about 80k to spare drop me a mail:D

Hospitality professional. Managed Hotels, Nightclubs and large catering outlets. Now working freelance as the Industry is in ****e, made redundant (by a developer no less) last August. One of the many hotels running at a loss. Would love to do something completely different, quite depressed about how bad things have got in Ireland but i am one of the lucky ones, small mortgage and no excesses during the boom times.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Secondary school teacher. I teach French and German in an all boys' school, never a dull moment I can tell you :)
On an average day along with teaching the course I am an entertainer/clown, a mother, a disciplinarian, an actress, a shoulder to cry on, a comedian.....
You don't have to be crazy to do this job but it helps :D

Yes that really bothers me also when people don't respect that (No dis respect to social care workers). What really bothers me when people think special needs assistants are special needs TEACHERS (again no offence to sna's) I think even the media don't understand this as i gathered during their report of their cuts. A friend of a friend is an SNA and people around here are calling her a special needs/resource teacher. A resource teacher firstly becomes a primary school teacher, usually works in mainstream for 5 years before entering resource. GRRR...
All that is required of SNA's is Junior Cert (again nothing wrong with this,it's just that people don't inderstand the difference at all)

I am on my way to becoming a primary teacher, sub when i get it and i feel 'at home' when i'm in that classroom :-)

I'm new to this forum so this is a good thread for me to start with.

I'm currently in online marketing (SEO/PPC) but have worked as a technical writer/translator for a few years, bummed around Europe for another few, taught English for a while, played music full time for a bit.
The Celtic tiger passed me by, so I've not really been hit by the recession as I never had loads of money anyway!
I'd like to exploit my languages, but don't want to go back to the start of the career ladder, so might do a part time course if I can...
