Golf Rear speakers

    Hey guys

Just recently bought myself a 2004 MK5 golf. The stero system that came with it seems pretty standard and I think it only came fitted with speakers in the front of the car.

What I'm wondering is, is it difficult to fit speakers into the rear doors of the car and where can I get speakers for them. I dont mind spending a few euro so any opinions would be great.

    Thanks

I'm presuming it's a baseline? They only had ones in the front afaik.

Quick way to check though is to hit the FAD button on stereo and set it mid-way between front and back. Could be that there are ones but they are switched off

Pretty sure the Comfy's also only had front speakers when the MKV was launched. Penny pinching VW bástards.

No it's a sportsline model. I checked that and it only gives me the option to balance left and right.

ok im glad you mentioned it the last post the stereo only has a balance button and not a fader what this means is the radio in your car is only a 2 channel set up..not 4 channel
thats not to say you cant hook up two more speakers but you'd have to just tap off the fronts in that case and its not really recommened as its putting extra pressure on the radio, people do this all the time though and rarely have problems its just not how id do it.
but the proper solution is change the radio and than add speakers but obviously thats getting much deeper in financially.
    just my tuppence worth!

Or maybe try and find the better upgrade head unit and speakers from a crashed car.

FFS 2 speakers in a car that was originally about 22-23k with the cheapest engine:rolleyes:

I know its rediculous. Any idea where I could search for an upgrade from a crashed car? I presume this is the cheapest way of an upgrade?

00 Toledos and Leons were pre wired for rear speakers so i'd imagine the golf is as well. There should be spurious kits available and they should be handy to fit.

It would probably be the easist option to go OEM. Traynors up north are worth a shot.

Whats OEM? Possibly be able to get a couple of door speakers cheap online?

basically original VW bits. It will save having to get fascia adaptors and cutting parts of your doors etc
