do ya mean YLOD, theres no ring on a ps3, anyway, fix it first and make sure it works before buyin a hard drive, ya can go upto whatever size ya want but would ya actually need it

is ur 60gb nearly full, do ya have videos and music on it?

    I upgraded to this one.

You will be told this more than once in this thread, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SCREWS. They are like butter, only softer...

Thinking the exact same i only really use the PS3 for gaming but i've started to reach the 40GB so looking at upgrading at the moment.

Everywhere you go tells you about the screws!

Yep, think I messed up 3 of them! It's the hard drive casing you have to be careful with. It worked out ok in the end but, hopefully I never have to take the hard drive out again!

What other HDDs have people used? F1nger's one looks pretty good, but I'd like to see a couple! Does swapping take long?

Backup takes longer than the swap and the screws could be the most time consuming part of the swap.

The reason it keeps getting put on the long finger, the time consuming part of formatting and backing up. That and needing to get a big enough external HD too!

Dunno about buying one of the 7200 RPM ones, I've heard you don't get any benefit from them over the 5400 RPM ones in the ps!
