In the absence of any facts, would anyone care to speculate whether the iPad will be able to tether to the iPhone?

I don't like the idea of waiting around, having to pay more and the nasty black strip on the back of the iPad 3g version,

Would defeat the purpose of charging extra for 3G functionality if they allowed you to easily connect via another device, surely?

True, but Apple seem to be moving away from restrictive carrier deals and they are making a non-cellular version. I'm sure O2 would hate the idea but I'm not sure if Apple care that much anymore.

Really doubt it.. Since they don't allow bluetooth DUN on the itouch, i doubt they'll let it happen on the ipad.

I think what I said above makes sense..

jailbreak your iphone and get an app called MyWi from the cydia store, or buy it via paypal online. Great app, basically uses your 3G or edge data and creates a wireless network that anything can connect to, be it laptop, ipad, ipod touch, other smart phone etc etc. Drinks battery though, so you may want a charger handy if you're going to use it a lot. I don't use it that much and find it great. You can exit the app and it still works so you can do whatever you want, and your data on the phone works at the same time. It's what I'm gonna do (keep doing) if I get an iPad. Having serious second thoughts!
