Vichy France advice for holiday

Myself, my wife and two boys aged 12 and 8 are flying to Lyon on 6 August and spending the weekend in Vichy to attend a wedding. We are planning to spend the following week holidaying and would like to combine activities for the kids with a taste of french culture/lifestyle. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
