Another Problem with my PS3

My PS3 is gone tits up .

Has anyone else had this problem .......there are lines going up and across the tv screen when I'm playing it . The more I play the worse the lines get . I have tried it on another tv and its the same story , so I thought it might be the cable that runs from the PS3 to the TV but its not . The PS3 has frozen a few times recently .

    Is it shagged ?

What kind of cable are you using to connect it up to the TV?

How do you know it is not the cable? Have you tried another cable or tested yours with a different PS3?

Would model of PS3 do you have and how old is it?

I would try using a HDMI cable [if you are not already doing so and if your TV accepts HDMI cables]. A cheap €5 one will do.

It sounds like your PS3's AV port is fupped. If you have a TV with a HDMI port, try using a HDMI cable [different port on the PS3]. This is the cheaper option.

The expensive options are sending it to Console Repairs or getting a new PS3.

How much would you get for a broken PS3 ?

YLOD? I would still try the HDMI option first but if you feel safer with a new PS3, make sure you do a full backup to an external HDD before getting rid of your old one.

You were right ;) Works perfectly on the HDTV

So I either have to get console repair to fix it again or get a hdtv for the bed room

Funnily enough I have the exact same problem in reverse :D my HDMI port is broke but my AV Cable works fine. Playing the PS3 on an AV Cable after HD is like going back to the Amiga, it is quite painful :(

I know, I saw it today on a 50 odd inch hdtv ......the difference is unreal .
