Hi all. Sorry about the sparse details. I have an old silver pocket watch in pretty bad condition. Hinge broken, second hand fallen off etc. but it has all the bits, key etc. and still works. Last time I was in Dublin I dropped into Dawson Jewellers and they said it was from about 1900 and would be worth about 800e if fixed up and suggested I try The Auction Rooms to sell it. Auction Rooms said it was in too bad condition to sell. Just wondering is there any other collectors/dealers around who would be interested in it as is. Im not very computer savvy so cant do ebay etc. Also Im not in Dublin. Sorry about long post and if this would be better in antiques forum mods feel free to move. Thanks for your help.

It so depends on what the make and model is and the quality of movement. Unless it was of a particularly high grade I'd think the 800e value was a bit too rich tbh. Considering the description of condition. Hands are easy enough to source. Cases can be repaired.

Could you get a photo up of the movement and the face? Maybe get a better idea then.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
