Summons - Number Plate not on the Bumper

    Hi Everyone.

I was wondering if anyone here has had a summons for their number plate not being on the front bumper but in the windscreen instead?

I got stopped the other day and the Garda went MAD at me. Just a major attitude problem I reckon, but he is still a Garda and can do what he likes.
When I tried to reason with him he told me if I didn't drive away he was going to seize my car as it was not road legal without a plate on the front.
(Is that technically a threat?? surely he is required to discuss these things with the person he is going to charge??)

The reason that the plate was in the window is that the bottom of the bumper had been taken off to be repaired after cracking it on a speed bump. I stuck the plate onto the bonnet with the number plate fasteners from Halfords and it fell off so i put it i the window instead to ensure it was visible.

Any experiences would be valuable to me as I am currently quite stressed about it!

Edit: I hope the context of my post is acceptable to the mods, if not then please edit or remove as you see fit!
