I spent my days on the dole finishing my dissertation for my masters, then spent two weeks of it in the caribbean on my holidays at the end of september.

From October till December I spent my days applying for and getting rejected by every job advertisement I could find.

From january to now I have spent my time sorting out my visa to go back to korea and work away at my old job cos it's too boring and mind numbing to sit on the dole for a long period of time.

I head away on sunday and as much as I don't really want to go back out there to my same old job and away from my new born nephews etc, I just can't be arsed doing nothing for the next few years.

When I first went out Ireland was booming and people only went to the U.S and Australia so I decided to go there cos there wasn't as many Irish, now the big cities are full of Irish people trying to avoid the dole.

Because of this I am heading back to my old school on a little island just off the south east coast, at least I know there are no fake Irish bars and I don't have to put up with people banging on about mayo/kerry/insert county name here __________ when the all ireland comes back around

Plenty of dog burgers in Clones, lad?

I spent from September to December getting rejected by empoyers about every single job i applied for. While here the closest offer i got for a decent job was to work in company for "work experience". This meant i'd go to a place and work 9 - 5 like everyone there, doing similar work only i would still be on the dole. Which meant id still claiming PRSI and working for free. But don't worry, some companies were considering a scheme where they might cover your bus fares.

    I leave ireland next week.

In Britain the unemployed go on the Jeremy Kyle show; here they try not to watch it, by waking up after it is over.

Ah, the dole. Got back from Australia 6 weeks ago. I'm applying for jobs every day but so far no luck. The dole is my saviour, my solace and any other word beginning with 's' you can think of. Yes, including that one.

Anyway, the dole is great. I can afford to go to Prague, buy my parents a holiday, send presents to my girlfriend (she's still in Australia), drink beer, eat whatever I want, play golf, pay for the internet and still have enough money to save a significant amount per week. I really, really love the dole. I earned my PRSI credits btw. That said, if someone were to offer me a fulltime job tomorrow I'd take it.

Mostly being a stay at home dad for the last year. Mortgage to pay so savings are gone. Like anyone really has savings these days.

Got on a course but started back doing interviews last week so not sure if I'll finish.
I'll be honest my main concern now is that its impossible to save any cash when you're on the dole.
If I get a job, I'll get payed monthly, so where am I going to get the cash to pay a child minder for the month that I'm waiting to get paid.
I'm pretty sure that I'll lose my benefit soon coz them means test forms are a load of bollix so one way or another things are getting worse before they get better
