How has the last two years affected your salary?

With all the changes in the job market I'm curious as to how people's salary positions are with comparison to what they were on a year or two ago.

In the last year I've taken a 20% wage hit, then been made redundant and am now earning roughly 50% more a month than my original salary though my conditions have changed dramatically (contracting versus permanent, working in the UK comuting at weekends).

Poll is private, choose change to Conditions if you've lost a bonus / overtime etc.

How has your salary been affected by the downturn? 91 votes

I've been in the same job (my first job) for 2 & a half years.
Pretty high turnover in call centres.

Biggest change would have been getting our quarterly bonus cut last year. That sucked.

You need an option for no annual raise and a paycut. :)

Salary still the same. Commission was restructured though so I can now earn a lot more when I reach my targets. I know I am very lucky though.

No annual raise and a paycut would indicate a paycut of X% to me?

Any annual raises should be included as an increase in salary...

Company paying a little more, but a little more has gone in taxes so no change essentially.

No paycut, but they stopped paying us overtime, made us take 5 unpaid holidays and of course no performance bonus, so all in all it works out to a 10% reduction.
The 2% Govt Income levy certainly makes a dent too.

Have had to change job several times over the last year to stay employed down around 30%+ on take home pay.

Lost job in March 2009 and took until late Sept to get a new job - that paid about 50% less than previous job but after 6 months it is more important to be out working than the income!

Now working way back up with 2 job changes (that's the problem with bringing in people on reduced salaries - they have ambition to get back to old level and move on at 1st opportunity), seems to be much more around this year but not sure will recover 2008 level:mad:

No raise, no bonus, less staff, more work.
