My garmin heart rate monitor (forerunner 305) has stopped working. I replaced the battery but still not a budge. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

this might be something you checked, but have you ensured that the battery is touching the connectors in the unit.

The problem might not be the Garmin. Have you checked for a pulse? :D

Might be obvious and you may have done so already but did you check the watch settings to ensure HR is enabled? It has happened me a couple of times that the HR wasn't being picked up. I had to change the setting on the watch.

You might have to pair it again with the watch. That happened to me once, the manual describes how to do it.

Are you sure you haven't died that the heart monitor has stopped ;)

As the lads said you have to pair them up again. Saw it on some other thread before.

Thanks lads for all the advice, but, alas still nothing. When I go to pair the HRM with the forerunner, to me, it seems it isn't even scanning for it. This is getting frustrating now, don't want to be hasty and order a new one yet.

Something like this came up before. Someone advised to check a little metal element inside was in contact with the battery. They suggested bending it sightly.
Sorry I can't remember more, it was just that bit that stuck in my mind.

ok here's an update.....can't get the HRM to function, i was worried then that it may be my forerunner. But tonight at training while chatting to one of the lads i noticed that it was picking up his pulse. So i think i will just have to take the hit and buy a new one....amazon seem to have the best price. Thanks anyway lads/girls.

I surely did. Got a great deal on ebay but am unable to locate the original email with the seller details.

The beeps have gone on my 305 and it is not the settings. The speaker has just crapped out. Now it is well out of its 12 month warranty but I contacted Garmin in the UK (they cover Ireland) and I was told for GB£ 58 I could have a brand new one.

Basically, there is a set fee for repairs but the probability is that they replace the whole unit rather than try and refurbish it. Either way, far better than buying a new one, right? Contact details on Garmin.co.uk!

However, if you are just looking for an excuse to buying a 405, well that is another thing altogether.
