    Guys,

I just bought a peugeot 206. I don't know anything about car (not even driving :)). By mistake I pressed a push button near gear attached in the image, can anyone please let me know what is it and how to release it?

    Thanks

could be the cigarette lighter :D

more likely to be the shift lock button to take it out of gear if the battery is disconnected.

Have you ever been in a car before OP?
Do you know what the controls are for?
In relation to how you go about releasing it - if it doesnt pop up after the car has been started for a minute or so, I would say its not working.

That would be the self destruct button, if I were you I'd start running.

I'm just here to prove I actually saw this thread when future generations are gathering round to hear the story.

Look at the image on the button. It's a stick with a snake coming out of it. What you've done is release a snake into the back of the car. St. Patrick will never forgive you.

No I was serious, it's not a pisstake.
Have been in car before but never observed such things

If the OP hadn't already posted elsewhere about learning to drive and importing a 206 I'd be skeptical. I reckon it's a genuine mistake!

    play nice!

Now for the 2 button behind that button. You should have a go with those to see what they do!

The After Hours poster in me wants to say that it's a nicotine patch. :)

Afaik that button in early 206 models activates the panic room. You may have to smash a window to get out of the car.

I hate to ruin it for everyone, but since it seems the OP may have been serious, it's a bit unfair to let the slagging to continue.
This thread in AH could be of interest to yee:D
