I've heard a few stories about dodgy and over-pricing coaches dishing out unrealistic programmes etc to riders over the last few years.

I heard recently of one guy charging 300euro a month for such services.

    Any more horror stories?!

Dunno about coaches but I heard about an internet forum where they just spend other people's money. Crazy stuff.. like full carbon bike for beginners and stuff like that...

I'd imagine the guy paying €300/month knew the price before hand? If he was a willing participant it's hardly a horror story.

What kind of price would you guys be expecting to pay a coach?

Depends on the coach and how much disposable income I had. €0 at the moment.

I wouldn't pay a coach anything. If you have that much spare money then you should invest in a powermeter and a couple of self coaching books.

amjon, I'm from the opposite school of thought. I think someone with an outside perspective is much better placed to protect you from yourself.

I was absent mindedly googling this today. Web based coach vs. RL? How much would you pay per month as an amateur for a fortnightly plan and weekly conversation? Or what frequency of contact would you need.

AFAIR, I was paying £25 p.m. which saw me scheduled for a weekly phone call, unrestricted (and unabused) access outside of that. Plan for a month at a time, but tweeked to real life as I went along.

I want to become an elite special forces soldier. Should I just go out and buy a scary dagger and a subscription to Guns & Ammo?

Do you have a coach Lumen? As I am pretty sure you have the other two items listed :pac:

I believe I am uncoachable. Besides, the journey is more fun than the destination.

Is the destination drunk driving, drug driving and doping? :)
