Thailand Flights

I'm booking Thailand this week and just looking up flights at the moment and they're all very pricey. I'm planning on going from around 20 June - 20 August and most flights are around the €850 mark. I'm looking on ebookers BTW.

Also, can anyone advise me on what airlines to avoid? I would prefer to go with Etihad or British Airways as I've had great experiences with them, but I've read that some people here have had very bad experiences with China Airlines.

So, basically, is there anywhere else I should be looking to get a good deal for flights to Thailand? Only interested in Dublin to Bangkok with a stopover.

Change your dates around, 21th june to the 19th july is 717 euro....

::edit:: O thats with china airways so dont know if you want to book with them...

::edit again:: There might be too much travel time involved it this option for you and you would need to get ryanair flight to london aswell. Its with Qatar and is 604 euro but if you want to save over 200 each might be an option...

    Check your itinerary

You could try http://www.westeasttravel.com/user/default.asp they have a wide selection of airlines flying direct. I've booked with them before and were always hard to beat on price. You do have to factor in the cost of a flight to Heathrow however.
They currently have Thai for £565 (€645 approx) for your dates. Thats a direct flight as well.

    Cheers,
    sombaht

EDIT: Saw you wanted a stopover, well there are such flights available as well.

try Dohop.com, they are an icelandic comparison website. great reputation. or You could Try Jet airways they are an Indian Company a friend said she Got Thailand flights from London for 400 pounds return. when i looked it's a bit more expensive, i want to go in a month and the flights i am finding are a little over 600 euro return. In can't say about your dates. I would say look around a LOT, before you book, i think you'll be able to get cheaper flights than that.

It might be an idea to go from London, you can get A sail rail deal, or is it rail sail?... a ferry and train into London centre, from dublin, no baggage restrictions, for 44 euro, and you can buy when you are going at the ferryport, no advance booking. i think it's brilliant It takes about 6-7 hours but the journey is lovely. there is a thread about it on here somewhere. if you flew ryanair the checked bag for a long haul is 30 alone i think and you need to get a bus into london centre another 10 pounds at least.

I would seriously consider the latter as many flights dublin to Asia will go to london anyway to connect. But as i said look around.

I have just posted another thread just 20 mins ago before i saw this. so look for that one in travel, '' advice on flights for thailand''.

if someone has good advice for me it'll apply to you too. i don't know about stopovers but it should be easy to get.

    Enjoy the holidays!
    JACK

Have a look on trailfinders.ie, they seem to be a lot cheaper than ebookers, which always seems to add on an unexplained amount in comparison to airlines' own websites.

I just booked flights to bangkok with KLM for e747. They're from Italy though...but via paris so you may be able to get something similar from dublin. Might be an idea to look for direct flights from some of the european hubs i.e. London, Amsterdam, Paris...etc...for return flights and then get a cheapie ryanair one to there if theres a good saving to be made.

I'd nearly suggest putting a big banner at the top of the travel forum advertising airasia.com if I thought it would actually happen.

OP, check your dates with them and I guarantee you you'll get it for almost half of the price you were quoted.

    Seriously.

Fly Dublin to Stansted with Ryanair, then Stansted to Kuala Lumpur with airasia.com, then KL to Bangkok.

    They can't be beaten.

People keep suggesting Air Asia to me, but when I check it's 570 sterling and still have to get a flight to London, and on to Bangkok on top of that! So it's good, but not great, maybe better for flying to KL just. I've been checking loads of websites and doesn't seem to be much for less than 750ish, but that's not too bad. I'm gonna keep an eye out for special offers, I got em for 500 with KLM to fly in Jan just gone, that was with one of their sales.

Edit: I note if you're booking ahead with Airasia they have some insanely good fairs, 189 stg each way london-KL and also some cheap as chips flights within Asia, and to Oz, damn now I wish I was goin for longer and could avail of these!!

Yeah, you're just unlucky with your dates.

Last summer, I booked my these flights only about 4 weeks in advance. Unreal:

    STD - KL (return)
    KL - Perhentian Islands (return)
KL - Chiang Mai (one way)

    Total cost €520.

Then my ryanair rtn from Dub to Std was about 40. So it was 560 altogether.

    Brilliant.

I got flights with Emirates for 600 euro from Munich in Germany. I just ordered last week and going April 03. It's much cheaper on week days.

Its worth flying to Munich. Seems to be cheaper than flying to London. Aer Lingus though.

    That is briliant!
Gonna hang on few weeks anyway, and see what offers come up, seems there's a few airlines doing reasonable price from London, just have to keep my eye on em :)

    Check out Jet Airways also.

Sorry, I'm starting to hijack this thread, but I am also looking for flights to Asia!! I just wonder if anyone can explain why the price would be less through a price comparison website than direct on the airlines website?? I've never booked through one of those third party websites so I'm a bit concerned!

You can find best info of Thailand airlines on Mobissimo

Anyone know how to disable Mobsync.exe on window vista?

Having bother finding decent prices for flights to London. Aerlingus and Ryanair are both expensive when you factor in baggage, don't want to pay €150 to get to London when it's costing €500 to get from there to Bangkok! Any recommendations on a good carrier for Dublin - London (Heathrow if possible)?

I think i've said it before but, if you don't mind waiting a bit (it can be a long trip), 40 euros to london, one way, all baggage included- rail + sail w irish ferries or stena line connecting with virgin trains. so dublin port to Euston, London. another 4 pounds underground to heathrow then.

It's not for everyone, but cheap in a last minute situation, i've used it a bit as i often go to london on a last minute whim. I doubt you could find a flight around the same price with baggage charges etc.

I just flew from London to Thailand and got the sail rail, it was a bit of a pain TBH. But it's almost definitely your cheapest option, and if your going to Thailand then, as i looked at it, it just making a longer trip out of a long trip.

just a suggestion, people forget about this as an option IMO
