Sunday afternoon, looks just like a ski resort with what appear to be pistes from top to bottom

Took this picture a couple of weeks ago on the Military Road, not too far from Kippure (other side of the road). The main patch there looks small but there were actually 2 or 3 people skiiing down. Could have been you? :)

I can't see your photo but I think I know the patch you are talking about, no I didn't go up there but it's less of a hike than going up Kippure but much less skiing distance also.

sarsfield06 - can you drive to the summit of kippure?

Was thinking of heading up this weekend. I have a 4x4 (Toyota LC).

Is there a ski route then down to the lower sections?

    Cheers

    A

There is a road up to the top that the aerial maintenance use but it has a locked gate just at the military road to keep the public out. Here is a pic of the gate at the military road.

    arctic tree

You should be able to ski continuously from top to bottom on the north side with only a few short interruptions. The best route is the one in the middle of my first photo. This thread has more in the skiing http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055776034&page=9

Access may be a problem if it snows more, I will probably go up Saturday morning if the road it clear, PM if you want to hook up.
