Is it all kicking off again, no there's still a few fucking idiots living in the past who haven't put down their weapons.

As for the economy, terrorism suits no one's economy on this small Island.

Am I just being a narky cunt this morning, or does anyone else find it inappropriate to joke about an act of terror in N.I. when so many people are working hard to find a solution to the problems of Northern Ireland?.

Its After Hours, I would be surprised if there wasn't a inappropriate joke. It was always going to happen and if annoys you, best to ignore.

I take you point and I agree somewhat - however I take consolation in that we can joke about these out of date muppets trying to play big boys, while more serious, better people are continuing on with their peace talking - which in turn allows the rest of us to goon joking IN PEACE.

    Long may that situation last.

In fairness, it's feeling sorry for ourselves or being hysterical that will play right into these small-minded imbecile's hands. The show must go on.

Signed - Narky Cunt in Dublin.

    agreed, it's not funny.

    solution:

cut northern ireland off the rest of the country and watch it float away. it's like africa and israel/palestine, they're better off forgotten about until they grow up and become civilised like the rest of us.

That would give birth to the most dangerous terrorist organisation ever seen on this planet, the Cross-Border Shopper Liberation Front. After the initial sobbing as they watched the bargain-stores floating off into the distance, there would be carnage, the likes of which has never been seen before, like Pol-Pot on a bad day.

Breathtaking ignorance. Northern Ireland is civilised in the same way that not everyone in Dublin and Limerick takes part in drug dealing and drive-by shootings. You're tarring 1.5 million people with the same brush as about 500.

We are all tarred with this brush in the eyes of the world, if we move that place off in to the North Atlantic it narrow the worlds focus and would save on the tar.

what codeword did rira or cira use for last night's newry bomb? the news says is was recognized? any suggestions:

I suspect they used a combination of codewords:

Do these idiots actually think they have support from anyone when they carry out cowardly acts like this? I honestly cant understand how they they think that a car bomb is going to get them anywhere (except hopefully jail), with pretty much everyone else trying to work for peace.

Here's a tip if any of you dissidents read forums...WE DONT WANT YOU, SO **** OFF!

I'm sure they're aware of that, and I doubt they give a shit

imho it's stupid to assume that even they are carrying out these acts solely in the name of republicanism

they're nothing but the lowest level of scumbags, probably feeling disenfranchised about how society has caused them such hardships.. I doubt the retards involved in this care one way or another about what people actually want

I have a mate who is a Garda in a border area and he has been telling me for the past two years that dissident groups are becoming active, reorganising, gathering funds and gathering intelligence.

This is something the security forces on both sides of the border are well aware aware of and there is a lot of intelligence on both sides. Remember a Real IRA activist was arrested in Ballybofey a couple of weeks ago and a couple more escaped...

I don't know whether these scumbags are doing it 'for the cause' or their own twisted version of it, or maybe they just want to re esatablish their smuggling superiority and instill fear against competitors.

Either way, there's a lot of them out there and unfortunatley we're gonna see some more of this

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 34,567 ✭✭✭✭Biggins

...there's a lot of them out there and unfortunately we're gonna see some more of this
To repeat something I said in the politics section:
The more a dying animal is backed into a corner of its own making and senses its own demise, the more it will fight back.
Its an inevitable consequence but its fate has already been decided by others and one brought about by its own previous actions.

The victor this time around is "peace" - the losing animal is "unwanted war".

These moran idiots and their even stupider followers, have no one to blame for their own demise.
If they were anyway serious and had the slightest bit of kop-on, they would serious commit to talks but no, like a schoolyard bully, because they don't get what they want, they try to push others around.

What happens to schoolyard bullies? They get easily hated very quickly, no one wants to associate with them and thus they get further isolated.
    No friends,
    No direction,
    No kop-on.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Here's hoping they go with their stupid out of date followers and trolls.

translate into what language? how about the following:

    DECLARATION OF SUPPORT
    1. We, the participants in the multi-party negotiations, believe that the
agreement we have negotiated offers a truly historic opportunity for a new
    beginning.
    2. The tragedies of the past have left a deep and profoundly regrettable
legacy of suffering. We must never forget those who have died or been
injured, and their families. But we can best honour them through a fresh
start, in which we firmly dedicate ourselves to the achievement of
reconciliation, tolerance, and mutual trust, and to the protection and
vindication of the human rights of all.
    3. We are committed to partnership, equality and mutual respect as the
basis of relationships within Northern Ireland, between North and South,
    and between these islands.
    4. We reaffirm our total and absolute commitment to exclusively
democratic and peaceful means of resolving differences on political
issues, and our opposition to any use or threat of force by others for any
political purpose, whether in regard to this agreement or otherwise.

the copy and paste is the opening of the good friday agreement from the website of stormont,

paragraph 4 is all you need to know about the loud bang in Newry last night, today Gerry Adams challenged these hill billies to have the guts to engage in debate...

many of us watched years of this dreary atavistic cudgel swinging...we will not let a tiny minority easily bamboozle the young...without debate anywhere it might take place

I respect your bona fides and have no dispute with you amici

I'm glad to read that and glad to agree. I'm delighted that a once serious supporter of fighting has issued his peaceful challenge.
Thats the ONLY way forwards for our future.
I include myself as one of the many. I still have the actual scars.
I don't want those days to return. Not for me but for my children more so.

Am I the only one who's sick of hearing about this sort of bull****?

I want NI back, just to make my aspirations clear - but I have long since realised that this will not happen - ITS A ****ING PIPE DREAM - and certainly not peacefully. So I instead support any efforts made towards everyone living together peacefully. It's a small island and we can ill-afford to fúck it up any more than it has been.

ANYONE who blows up civilian targets is scum, and deserves a firing squad. Civilians are NOT fair game, nor are civilian amenities like courthouses, EVEN if unpopulated at the time.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 34,567 ✭✭✭✭Biggins

...Adding on to what Sdonn said, if Ireland is EVER to become a united island as one complete state - this (I suspect) will only come about when those of the unionist/minority section feel completely at easy with those they encompass as a community and country.

What happened up the north last night is similar to shooting themselves (the bomb-makers) in the foot.
They did their long term goal no favours last night - just made it even longer to reach yet again.
Thats not called progression - thats called stupidity.

I honestly don't think those pricks have 'long term goal'.

Their only motive I think, is to give their sad little lives purpose and pretend they are still at war.

If they except the peace process it means having to get a day job and stop playing fcuking martyrs for once in their lives.

It really is sickening this shit is still going on, I check the BBC Northern Ireland section fairly regularly, as they report stories from the RoI there aswell - there's been quite a few incidents recently, but this is the most serious so far (touch wood). Britain is not an enemy anymore, we're not oppressors.

People trying to drag Northern Ireland back to into 'Troubles' don't deserve oxygen tbh.
