Day 8 Worst Season Yet?

Is anyone else more completely utterly bored with this season? I've watched all 7 series so far, and enjoyed them all (even the ones everyone else didn't like).

I'm just going through the motions with this one. Its leaving me cold. The story is crap, the bad guys are crap and clichéd, and the "threat of the day" has been done before (more than once).

Worst of all, there is no hook to the next episode. Those last 4 seconds of every episode (where the clock counts off to the top of the hour) are where you're supposed to say "Wow... did that revelation/twist/scene just happen?". This year, for most hours, there is no cliffhanger, no holy sh*t moment that makes you say "Wow, I can't wait for next week". Most episodes have just ended with no drama.

I'm still watching (in the hopes that they turn it around), but I think the show has run out of steam, and run out of ideas.

Im actually enjoying it at the moment.. I'm liking the way they've gone away from the big explosions every two seconds for this season..I feel the story line is more intelligent and more thought out then in the last few series.. It's like they're really building up the story this series and im really enjoying it..

I don't get the whole dana and her exboyfriend story line at the moment it feels like its just thrown in there hopefully it'll be linked to the main plot soon, but i can see this dana one becoming a Michele/tony storyline where she gets in trouble and freddie prince jr(cant remember his characters name) has to compromise this that and the other to save her..

I think exactly the same with this series. The Head of CTU and president omar are just getting annoying at this stage, it seems like they're just playing pass the parcel with the uranium rods for 24 episodes.

It started off really good with the whole helicopter explosion and markov story but it's gone down hill from there. A nuke has already gone off on american soil so it wouldn't be a shocker if another one did!

I think they've just ran out of terrorist idea's on how to attack a country!

It's fairly good this year. Day 6 however was a turd.

Really though, I'm quite enjoying this season. Season 6 kinda killed 24 for me; the last season where I felt really emotionally invested was 5.

This is pretty good so far, but I agree that many elements are tired. I'm hoping that we're blown away when the Big Bad is revealed, I hope it's not the clichéd Russian gangster or the Hassan's floppy-haired brother, they're in no way original.

Completely agree. It's really awful. For a while there it looked like Renee might be able to save this season on her own but then they go and give her a complete melt-down.
24 has often been ridiculous but rarely so boring.

And naturally I'm off now to watch the latest episode.

24 is a strange programme. i stil watch it every week even though to be particularly honest its not that enjoyable. Storylines are way too dragged out and too much filler (Dana and those thieves :rolleyes:), maybe it should be called 12 next year :pac:

Ya, I kinda agree with you Mr E, this season is a bit of a downer. The Dana side story is incredibly annoying, the leaders (Hastings, Omar and Taylor) are zzzz. And CTU seem like a bunch of pussies too.

Like Rene and the Russians though, and Jack seems to have acquired super powers this season

Agree completely.

The wife likes it more than I do - coz I've been bored with it for a long time. Season 5 is the last one I enjoyed. Season 6 was all over the place with loads of events that just came to nothing (proof that the writes hadn't a clue what they were at), season 7 was an improvement but still predictable with all the same twists they've already exhausted....and season 8 is just dead boring for me!

Gee I wonder will Renee turn out to be a bad girl in the end!! Ah no....they wouldn't do that twist....AGAIN!

I agree with OP. I think they should take it off air for a year and really have a good go at it.I thought S7 was great. It seems a bit clinical this series.But I will keep watching anyway.

Having seen all 7 previous seasons I do feel at times it's just one big rehash but i'm enjoying this season so far.

As a fan since season one, I still enjoy my fix of Jack & co.
In my eyes, even bad 24 is better than most other tv shows.

I agree,been fairly bored with this season so far. Not really even excited about getting the new ep like I used to be. Would sometimes leave the new episode a few days,wheras in the past I would always watch it right away.

:eek: So bored with it that it doesn't bother me to miss last sundays episode. Lack lustre president, lack lustre plot, jaded characters, same theme really as day 7.

i agree that its kinda rehashed etc. but tbf there are onloy so many "threat" ideas out there and they have kinda covered em all!

Yeah I completely agree. Usually 24 always has a slump or building period in each series where not much really happens of note. I think this series, that period was at the start, so it was hard to get into and constantly get excited about it. But these last few episodes have shown a lot of promise and are really starting to become about Jack, which is what's best about 24.

I can't forgive the terrible writing out of Renee. it was just so unnecessary and very badly done

Even though the first 13 or 14 episodes were pretty awful?

This season has had its great moments (most of them coming recently) but there have been some fairly rubbish storylines ( Anything to do with Dana). I will not be able to fully judge the season until it is over but if it continues in the way that it has in recent weeks it will have been a good season but if it returns to the early episodes than it will been an average season.
