I'm looking for help or advice on courses in Pulse Recording College in Dublin. the 3 courses are the BA Hons in Music Production, the 2 yr Diploma in Sound Engineering and the Pro Tools certs.

just wondering if anyone has done these courses?
Does anyone have any advice on these courses, if they're worth doing?

Any help or info would be great, thanks.

Yeah, you need to be a bit special to tune a degree like this into something that'll pay down those steep fees.

I have a degree like this, have produced and engineered and run live sound (toured the US doing it even) and currently I'm an out of work writer.

That's a bit of a dummy version, but the work aint easy to come by and some of this **** is wildly expensive.

    30K for three years... that's a LOT!

I was actually chatting to an elder member of these very boards about the same subject this evening.

I must say I was very impressed with Pulse in Windmill when we had our Plug-Ins day last week.

Whilst not getting bogged down in the 'But There's No Jobs' Cul de Sac I do think that education now has a more important role to play in our industry than it did when I were a boy.

I also think it's very important get used to the sound high end equipment makes - even if only to demystify it. It is, after all, just a tool.

A line I've trotted out more than once is " How can you know where your work/gear relates to a theoretical '10 out of 10' if you've never experienced '10' ? " ....

Everyone I met there was helpful and friendly both staff and students.

So whilst I've not partaken in their courses the whole thing looks very convincing to me.

I should add I have had no dealings with Pulse (apart from our day).
I'm also not saying they're better than other facilities here.
