It's relatively flat but still has a few long inclines. I reckon there's faster out there. Maybe Kildare or Limerick?

Newry. very flat. First 5 miles fast. 1 testing climb alright around mile 7 or so. Very fast last 4 or 5 miles along a canal.
Longford is aright but there are quite a few minor hills

Its arace I am interested in doing. So why would last years 2nd half times be alot slower that the first half. Most peoples were 2 min slower ??
Have you done it ?? Its 5 weeks before london so ideal.

VR Newry half is on end May which is 5 weeks after London. Are you sure you are referring to Newry Half?

Last years winning time of 1:12 was same at 2008 when I did it. And that steep hill comes about 6.5 miles into the race

Longford is pretty flat, but when you're on the course, I always fell like there are a few inclines at about 10-12 miles that knock the stuffing out of me. It's a bit exposed as well, so you can find yourself running into the wind for half the race without much of a break.

For some reason, my half PB is in Wexford, but it's probably a bit hilly for most people looking for a really fast time.

The Waterside Half up in Derry is fairly fast - no major hills, just a couple of short inclines.

I did it last year in September, it was a well organised race, with extra activities for the family and good value at about 25 euro I think.

stupid private - check out boards ac blogspot. read his report on it earlier. very costal so depend on wind for speed.

How about Achill ? It has a number of hills and is quite exposed so can be a problem if it is windy as it often is there (spectacular views though). I did it last year but it was my first. I found it tough but am not really qualified to compare it to any other. would be interested to know what others think ?

sorry - meant to post this on thread about slowest half !
