Hi all, I'm looking at updating my now 6 year old Mk5 1.4L Golf to a Mk6 diesel. So far, I've come across a 2010 2.0L GTi Comfortline 110BHP for a very good price in the local VW dealer.

It's going to be a straight cash deal, no trade-ins.

The only thing is I know very little about the 2.0L TDi engine. What's it like and what's the fuel consumption like?

Otherwise, I've no other queries, it's a lovely car.

    Thanks in advance.

MPG wise you are looking at a reported 57mpg according to parkers.co.uk
My car was reported for 55 mpg and I got 57 consistently over the summer.

During the winter things dont stay the same. Im down to 48-50mpg when its a cold winter.

    GTI or TDI?

If its TDI, search for the recent discussion about the same engine in Audi A4's.

    Sorry, I meant TDi.

I'll run the search. Thanks CountingCrows

Great engine much smoother than the older 1.9 units.
Have gotten high 60's at 50mph in fifth gear.
Driven lively it still manages to achieve the mid 40's.
