    Hi folks,

What would you look for in the members section of your golf clubs website?? Normally you have results, fixtures, news etc but is there anything else you would like to see included by your club?

Sometimes members might have a business listing, promoting members own businesses. However I found that some clubs own members pages aren’t updated enough. For up to date results you can never beat master score board or howdidido, that is of course if your clubs uses them.

I think a lot of golf club's should embrace the modern sites like Facebook and Twitter. Can you imagine the craic on a Facebook golfclub site? Banter, slagging, arranging t-times....heading up in the morning for a game...anyone about etc. It would make the club much more of a 'club' and much more interactive with it's members. Twitter also....restaurant specials.....no one on t for next hour....get up here! etc.

Ours has a discussion forum, mens, ladies, seniors, juniors, buy and sell, downloads

    Results
    Fixtures
    Weather
    Tee Time booking for comps
    Gallery
    Golf News Feed
    Can create polls

I'm sure it's a standard software package for sports clubs etc

Like the facebook/twitter idea another poster had - would be a less formal way to arrange a game etc

I think it would be real handy to have a calendar of all club comps and events in Microsoft Outlook & MAC format that can be downloaded to the members PC..... Wouldn't be that hard to do either....

Sorry i picked up your question incorrectly, thought you were asking about our own clubs members websites.

Yes to follow on from other posters, I would encourage facebook and twitter pages.

Ballyliffin use their twitter page to full affect, giving information on upcoming chairty events, special green fees offers and information about general work being done on the course i.e. bunker on the 10th under construction....

    http://twitter.com/BALLYLIFFIN

The key is to constantly update or members will lose faith and check it less regularly.

Photos from big club events are always good, obviously results, upcoming events, news feed, basically all mentioned by the earlier posters.

    Good luck with it!

My club has (almost, in dev.) the calendar/diary done with google and then embedded into the club site.
You can sync the calendar to your computer/phone etc. via google pretty easily as well as print it off too if you want.

A members contact page with phone numbers.

I only discovered my club had this a year ago and it's great for arranging club matches, informing playing partners if your removing your name from the time sheet and arranging teams for inter club competitions.

Thanks for posting this question Tin_Cup as I been pondering this very question. If the 'Members Section' of the website requires a member-only login then you could expect to see yearly accounts and offers from the office directed at members. It could be a way to reduce office costs by posting notices; though not everyone is computer savvy. A page with decisions made at Ladies, Gents or Management Meetings (synopses of the minutes thereof).
Team Managers could have their own page posting next trials, matches, results etc.
Club websites tend to be conservative considering all age groups. Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace can be more fun orientated. Results of competitions can be tweeted as soon as they are known.
