    Hi folks,

Have been chasing my handicap cert from my old club for the last two weeks now and am no closer to getting my hands on it. Put in a formal request for it in writing and have followed it up every couple of days since. Latest is the handicap secretary has signed it but the committee need to release it. The girl in the office kindly informed me she "no idea" when it will be available.

When I questioned the amount of time it was taking she fairly abruptly cut me off by shouting loudly into the phone that the committee have it end of story.

Never had this problem before. Has anyone else has similar problems getting a handicap cert?? Do you guys think any point in reporting them to the GUI??

    Shockin'.

What club was it, do you mind saying?

Firstly, I would put a call in to the GUI.

Secondly, ask your new club will a Golfnet print out do for a h'cao cert - I think it just might.

Bad form allright. Why the "committee" would have it, is beyond me. It's purelay an endoresment of your handicap, form the club. I would contact the Handicap Sec. directly and ask him when it would be convienient for you to pick it up. It you get no joy, get onto the GUI.

A mate of mine had a similar experience, but without the level of f**kology you are experiencing. His issue was more down to incompetence than anything else, but he contacted the HS direct, and get it sorted.

Cheers for the help guys. New club looking for Handicap cert if possible. Cant really argue with them. It should only take a few days to get at worst. Would rather not name the club if you dont mind but it is in Kildare.

Thats shocking form. Name and shame the club for being such knobs!

As Sheet said you can print one off your golfnet page, that should do.

Hi lads, just a quick update on this. Went up to Moyvalley and explained situation regarding the handicap cert. They accepted the Golf Net print out. Woo Hoo!

For the craic I'm still chasing my old club for the cert to see how long it takes. Today offically marks week 3!

Have also sent a letter to the GUI about it also.

    Will keep you posted.

Slightly off topic (again!) but when i log onto the golfnet website my playing handicap secion says N/A.

Any idea why this is? Is it because i haven't played any competitions yet?

    Couple of possibilities.
If you've just become a member then you get added as a member to the handicap software but with no attached handicap so you won't have an exact until you get awarded a handicap (hand in 3 cards etc.)
If you've moved clubs, you get created as a new member but again without an exact handicap until you submit a cert from the old club and the handicap secretary updates your handicap on the club software and then golfnet pulls this info once it's published.
Either of these apply to you?

Neither really, i only joined my club in may of last year and it took about 3 months to get GUI card and handicap (which comes up on howdidido) - which i was not impressed with. As i said i haven't played any competitions yet but plan to do a lot this year.

Well as far as I know, your handicap is maintained by the handicap software (Club2000) at your club. Once it's right here then it should be right everywhere. Does your handicap show up correctly on the printouts at your club? And correctly on howdidido?
If it's right on the printouts, then once your club publishes it should be right on howdidido. Then golfnet "pulls" this info and it too should be right.
If your club isn't publishing the results then hdid and golfnet might be wrong. Reasons why? Technical? Licence not up to date?

its right on the printout in the clubhouse alright and same as H.D.I.D.

must be some glitch linking to golfnet so. 18 hole comps starting shortly so will see does it change (hopefullly down) when i put in a few results.

    Cheers.

Don't worry about golfnet too much because I put in a call to the GUI last year about my handicap which was on the margins of changing (I was 4 on one system, 5 on another) and the lady told me that what was on the club computer was my handicap.
It makes sense in that for all kinds of reasons the online versions may not be accurate but your in-house system should be current.

I'd imagine that your club only updates Golfnet with results from qualifying comps.
With alot of clubs not back to the full 18 holes yet & with winter rules in place the only changes to many people's handicaps atm are winter cuts.
Official handicaps, & subsequent updating on Golfnet recommencing once the qualifying comps. restart.
As has already been stated the handicap sheets at your club are the ones that take precedence.

Could you not just use the "Hcap Certificate" option in Golfnet?

Does that not give you a Cert??

Hi Slumped, I ended up using the cert option from golfnet allright a couple of weeks ago. Had kept chasing the club to see how long it would take them to sort it out.

Yep. 4 weeks waiting now for my handicap to get transferred to new club. I've been informed it will be done tomorrow. How bloody hard can it be?

Golfnet can take a day or two to update.........
