    What's everyones opinions on them?

I personally have an electric blanket as my house is like an ice box and too lazy to fill up a bottle... & yes ye can all come around sometime

Anyone else use them or am I just strange and getting old?

Neither. I like a cold bed and cold room. Makes snuggling into my duvet soooo much nicer :)

Yeah I like getting in between slightly cool sheets and gradually warming up. Then if I get too warm I just move over to a cool spot. Getting into a very warm bed makes me feel a bit sick for some reason!

    +1 for the above

Let my own body heat warm it...
    Then it's just right.

    Neither.

I command my wife to enter the bed twenty-five minutes before me and to warm the most favourable side of the bed for my needs.

    Hmm... tough choice.

I like a cool bed but it can take me a long time to warm up, so I'm lucky that my partner gives off more heat than a furnace :D

I'm a cold blooded ladykiller so I don't need no electric blanket.

My girlfriend calls her hot water bottle Phil. Got a right shock the first time she mentioned it.

Pillow HAS to be turned regularly to cold side. I give off monumental body heat so bed doesn't be long warming up, but, I miss having someone to cuddle so I bring a hot water bottle the odd night :o

No duvet, no sheets, no clothes, no water bottle, no woman. That's the way to have a good nights sleep. I do find myself reaching for a blanket at about 3 or 4, It only goes over half my body though :P

I have a hot water bottle, which are great for period pains, only reason I have it. If I'm in bed and cold I will either get another blanket or grab the cat and put him beside me under the cover. Cats let out alot of heat and there's the added bonus of him purring away relaxing you into a good nice sleep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,597 ✭✭✭anniehoo

Oh my god theres nothing better than hoppin into bed when the electric blankets on full. Tooooasty! Turn it down to low and its the perfect heat combo for the rest of the night!

He loves it, I leave space for him to stick his head out but he likes being completely under the covers.

He tends to fart more (poor digestion even on good food) and they are right stinkers, it's safer for me when he's under the cover.

Sometimes after he's done one he turns to me looking pleased with himself! They're the ones where I have to leave the room.

I'm always freezing in bed, despite the fact I've two duvets and several blankets on it. For the first hour or so I make myself into a ball in the middle of the bed and shiver. I have no body heat at all :/

No hot water bottle, too fussy. Electric blankets are for OAP's =P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭bluto63

None. Whenever another person is in my bed, they tend to take up the sheets and leave me cold

I have an electic blanket on the bed. I got it as a present. I only use it rarely-its great when i run out of oil and ive no heating to jump into a warm bed. And when its freezing out. There the only times i use it really-i kinda like hopping into cold sheets and curling up into a ball till im nice and cosy:)

I'm sure he's only messing, unless the blanket was badly damaged they're water proof, many a glass of water was spilled on ours, one even wash washed. And anyway who admits to píssing themselves.

How cant anyone choose anything but partner in that poll (unless the lack of a partner is an issue).

Personally, i had a electric blanket when i was 5 and the control box which controlled heat level started sparking as i was nodding off. Have not gone near the things since. Sleep with two duvets instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,579 ✭✭✭✭kowloon

I can't sleep in heat at all, must be freezing cold. The radiators have been turned off in the bedroom and the windows stay open unless it snows or the wind is strong enough to blow the rain inside.

Partner when he is available (he has been away with work for a few months).
Hot water bottles are for period pains only.
I dont do electric blankets, fear of electrocution no matter how irrational, it wont go away.

I also have central heating so my house is pretty warm anyway. I do love the cool side of a pillow though.

hot water bottle and a second duvet in my college accommodation. It's ridiculous how **** and cold these houses are...I'm really cold right now. I think I'll just jump into bed early with my hot water bottle tonight.

The home house is epic though, my room is the warmest in the house so just the one duvet needed.
