Hi guys, I might be leavin this a bit late but I need to get my hands on some
deer blood. I don't think I'm going to get out before the end of the season myself..
I'll be trying to train my labrador pup to track and I'd like to use the real thing.
Obviously I'll need to freeze it, but apparently addng salt will hold it for a couple of days...? If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful..?

I'm from Mayo but I can travel probably as far as South Galway, Sligo or Athlone to collect it...
Feel free to reply with advise or PM to make contact if you might be able to get some...

    Cheers,
    smallfry

smallfry. you can use lambs/beef blood, just add a little salt to it .the dogs like the taste and it stops the blood from clotting.

failing that you can buy powered blood , this works very well for novice dogs .

there is different scents that a dog works from as well as sighted work .

this is as much a learning curve for you as well as your dog .

dont over do it once or twice a week and make it a treat for the dog .

cure a skin for your dog to have a pull on at the end.
